OUR
HISTORY
In 1934, Mr. Walter Jensen, a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, founded in
Florida, Children's Bible Mission in response to his burden to reach boys and
girls with the Gospel. His method was to go into the public schools and teach
God's Word, motivating the children to memorize Scripture by offering as an
incentive the opportunity to attend a Bible camp. That first year 47 children
earned this privilege and 15 accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. The work of
Children's Bible Ministries, as it later became known, quickly spread from
Florida to Pennsylvania to Oklahoma, reaching thousands of public school boys
and girls.
OUR
VISION
This same objective has remained through the years as CBM continues to reach
boys and girls with public school Released Time Programs. But our ministry
has expanded to meet the needs of such groups as college and career adults,
single parents, and home-schoolers. We pray that God will open many more
doors so that our influence will expand. We want to work with local churches in
winning people to Christ, discipling them and equipping them to reach and
disciple others.
OUR
GOALS
CBM desires to reach elementary boys and
girls and then minister to them through adulthood.
We accomplish our goals by
means of …

Character Building Materials
-
As the National
Director of CBM Ministries, it is my privilege in highly recommending
Character
Building
Materials
to you for your consideration. CBM Ministries, formerly Children’s Bible
Mission, has been working with public school students since 1935.
This
four year
curriculum is designed primarily for weekly or monthly Released Time classes
or for after-school Bible Clubs. Each year’s material has 6 units and each
unit has three lessons with the fourth lesson serving as a review of the
last three lessons. Each lesson has one key memory verse plus two bonus
verses. God has promised to bless His Word as we study, meditate and
memorize it. The lessons are designed with far more material then needed
for a 20 minute class. May we encourage you to read the Scripture, then
read the lesson and then highlight what God is impressing on your heart to
present to the boys and girls. On your second reading concentrate on what
you want to stress to the students. As the teacher teaches we want them to
teach out of the overflow of what they have learned. This material is
designed for both the Bible college student as well as the average layman.
The Bible story, songs,
memory verses, illustrations, mailbox lessons, devotional sheet and review
games have all been selected to reinforce the character trait for that
lesson. The Time Line will help students see where in history each story
took place and will impress on them the truth of the Scriptures.
It is our desire that
God will use this material to help teachers assist the local church and
families to build godly character in the lives of boys and girls. We in CBM
seek to win a child that we might win a life.
